Subject: resignation as council member From: Henk Doorenspleet Date: Tue, 30 Aug 2005 23:24:08 +0200 To: andrew.dawe@sympatico.ca, smarmott@rcn.com, frank@alttld.com, maltuner@tk.gov.tr, marshm@anycast.net, cytrax@public-root.com, Xentt , Joe Baptista CC: Marty van Veluw , Jody Daniel Newman Council members & public root people, Hereby I withdraw as council member of the INAIC council. A short explanation for this decision I'm asked to be INAIC council member just before the summer 2005 by Marty & Jody, I agreed to volunteer. Shortly thereafter the approval procedure for TLDs started. I did worked several times through the applications, knowing that governance and procedures have to be improved. I wasn't able to contribute much to the development of these -to my believe- crucial issues. The development of these and other things take time and I thought progress was in the works.... ...Until I saw several email tiers spawn by Mr. Joe Baptista with a lot of alarm bells & whistles regarding public root, developments and many allegations that went back and forth between the disputing parties. Most of the messages were beyond my ability to understand: -- I don't know and never met to main persons in the dispute, a.o. Baptista, Xentt, Burger, Kimballl, etc. -- I'm too remote from the involved persons, organisations and developments What I do understand (however not in detail) that there are severe claims of wrong doing and a lot of animosity between core people It's regrettable that the development of cTLD is now under stress, because -- I think the concept of cTLDs is OK -- Starting up an activity (in this case re-igniting/scaling) always/ often leads to growing pains/headwinds and aks a lot of involved people. Unfortunately this group can't get it's act together right now. Given the uproar and allegations I decided to resign as a council member, with immediate effect. I assume people who operate the INAIC web site (Xentt?) are able to remove my name and get me of the mailing list for TLD delegation. I assume one of the involved officials can confirm this. If more formal steps are needed to resign, please let me know and I will do the outmost to comply. sincerely Henk Doorenspleet CouncilResignation.pdf Content-Type: application/pdf Content-Encoding: base64 Part 1.3 Content-Type: text/plain Content-Encoding: 7bit
